Hey Queens,

Welcome to the Miss Juneteenth VA
Legacy Foundation™.

Resilient. Diverse. Infinitely Magical.

Juneteenth represents a historical period in our nation's history, the emancipation of slavery.  Virginia holds a very special place in history because it signifies the beginning of slavery in the "New World", now known as America.  Here is where the first Africans arrived in 1619 via the Portuguese pirate ship, the White Lion.  And here is where emancipation gained ground during the Civil War at Point Comfort, (present-day

Fort Monroe) in Hampton Virginia.

Fast forward to the present day, Juneteenth commemorates and memorializes the journeys our Ancestors endured on their quest for freedom, education, and independence.  The Miss Juneteenth pageant, in partnership with the Miss Juneteenth USA national pageant program, aims to highlight our strengths, talents, and accomplishments while elevating and empowering Black America's youth to "unleash their greatness" in our shared futures as a community and a people.  The Miss Juneteenth- VA Legacy Foundation is a platform that cultivates African American culture through community service, cultural awareness, and mentorship while providing gateways of opportunities for African American youth.
